Keep your largest tile in one corner and build a descending chain beside it. Protect your main row or column so high-value tiles stay connected. Do not chase every small merge if it breaks your structure. Empty spaces are valuable because they give new 2 and 4 tiles room to appear without trapping the board. When the grid becomes crowded, focus on merges that open several cells at once. A strong player reads one or two moves ahead and avoids swipes that scatter large numbers into the center.
